We need Prayer for our Country

It seems we can't stop watching the news, our country is in such a turmoil , with all that is going on...I know that God is in control, and will carry us thru this, and with us all praying for the leaders in Washington , that God's will be done...no matter what political conviction you are, we just need a peaceful nation, ....we(Irvin & I) were born during the "Great Depression", and we both remember down thru the years, our parents talking of the terrible times they went thru, and we certainly do not want a repeat of those times...so,if we could all find a "Quiet time" and say a prayer for our leaders, I think that we could see a difference.....

"Ready For Fall"

I am ready for Fall, and couldn't wait to put "something , fall" , out...and I know that I got 2 of the pictures turned wrong, and that was another "opps", oh well, you all will just have to look at it that way, sorry...our flowers have opened up, sooooo beautiful...and Dale from the house on the corner brought the Spider Lilies(at least I think that is what they are called) over from his yard, very pretty...he has a "Green Thumb"....the mornings are feeling very fallish lately, and the leaves have started falling from the trees here already, wishing for a early fall, ...Yes, I know this part of Texas just does not have early falls.....but anyway, I am ready for Fall, so "Bring it on"

Friday-10-26-08 Update

got the schedule for Irvin's Colonoscopy; October the 9th, at 10:00, we have to be there at 8:00am, ...he has been cleared by the heart Dr., so we are a little closer to finding out if there is anything with the colon that is lowering his blood count, althought, it had come up this last check on his blood, and as I told in my last update that his potassium is too high now...we are so hopeing to get everything where it should be, (all the levels , at least close to where they should be)...and it WILL happen....put Amy, also , on your prayer list, she is fighting a stomach bug, feeling pretty bad....also little Brooke, as she has it too (bless her heart)...Regina, Jim, have gone to Jacksonville for his job for a few days....hope they have a safe trip....Danny is working the night shift still, I think he told me that he is close to the end of that, and will be back on his reg. one soon....of course, Barbara is pretty tired, with everyone coming and going all hours, remember, Barbara, THIS TOO SHALL PASS....Corene is so busy getting her dolls made for the fall shows they have in Oct., plus everything else going on now, ...She has been so faithful to go with us to the appts., at MD Anderson, and to be there for us while I was in the hospital, her and Dad was there everyday , was a hectic time, as the storm had everything shut down, everybody was just trying to get thru it all, but Thank God, we all made it, like I keep telling everyone, well you know TTSP.....

Getting Back To Normal Life

Well its been a very very interesting couple of weeks right? Finally getting back on track here...Recently got power back finally and the internet the other day, so just got a chance to get on here and check in on everyone. Hows everyone doin? I hope the damage wasnt bad for anyone, and if anyone needs help be sure to let me know. So not a whole lot goin on besides getting back to normal and getting rid of trees and limbs. Work is goin good, and I got a date this sat. so looking very forward to that, her name is Rachel and she is living in Hockly, so nice little drive but it will be all good. Talk to yall soon

YEA!!

We are SOOO happy that Nancy is alright and back home!! Thanks for updating us...I was about to send you another kitten..lol..just joking! Well you and Nancy should sleep well tonight!

"Nine Lives"

Well, my face is"Red", my "dead cat" came running in this evening when I opened the door going into the garage with her ears back, like she was so scared, and she was starving...of course, I was sooooo happy to see her, the cat with "nine lives", we really thought that a fox had got her, as there are foxes in the area, from the way the garage looked....so, I am sorry for the sadness that I caused yall, but am happy that she is alive and other than being a little more strange than usual, she is o.k., we think that she probably got scared off , and either hid out, or wandered away., who knows?, but that teaches me a lesson(never too old to learn) to be sure that the door is not left high enough for anything other than her or her cat friends to get under....

"Nancy Girl" -06/2005-09/23/08

Our hearts are heavy today, our cat is missing and we are almost certain that a animal of some kind killed her, as there is signs in the garage that points to that...we usually raise the door just enough for her to come and go, but last evening, I raised it a little too high, not thinking that a animal would come in and attack her, ...we have had neighborhood cats to come and go, to get her food in the garage,...she didn't come to the front window, as she always does in this morn...she comes in and spends the day napping in the house, and since there have been so many heavy trucks coming in to clean up the debrie, she stays in the house all day, then in the late evening she eats and goes out for a while..She usually followed me around in the house, till she decided to find a quiet place to sleep..she was a strange little cat, but she found a place in our hearts, and Bo's also, and will be missed very much...

UPDATE-Irvin

went to MD Anderson this morn.....Irvin had blood collection, and saw the Dr.....She said that the iron medication is bringing his low blood count up, thank God , but his pottassium leval is too high, gave him medication to take each day for that, and he has to go once a week to get his blood checked for that until it gets normal..we can do that here in Conroe, which is good....Tues. , we go to the colon Dr. to set up the colonscopoly(mispelled), hopefully this week, but don't know yet, as she still wants him to have that...then, after that, we get started with the heart, he goes back the 6th of Oct., should know what we should do then, as his heart dr. put him on medication to see if that would help, right now, we feel like we are going in circles, but, "THIS TOO SHALL PASS"

putting this out there

Was talking to Barbara this afternoon, and they were planning to go and get a new computor , and like it happens to everyone, had to spend the money on their truck, so I am just "putting this out there", if anyone has a extra one or knows of a com. just gathering dust, please let them know....and thanks to Rachel for the oh so cute pic of Ally...need more, please.... any pictures that yall can send, please do, we all enjoy them.....will be glad when Bryan gets his comp. back to speed again too, so he can join us...they are still without power, and Corene had her power, but a transformer blew, oh boy.....our internet keeps going on and off, so we never know when we will have cable, and hopefully the power will stay on, but there is so many transformers blowing, till we never know....I know, it could be much worse....Grandpa goes Monday to MD Anderson, for blood collection, hopeing so much that , that is built up, then we go from there, keep him in mind, please....yall send in your news, please, i am about to run out ....and I don't plan to go to the hospital again, to make news, ha, ha, just kidding,...but , really, I so enjoyed reading all of the comments, from you all, it was so neat of yall to stay in touch that way, well, will go for now, I want to get everything caught up, so we can watch "Saturday Night Live"....

Ally's hamming it up!

So after the 5th time or so of promising to send a pic of Ally I figured I'd better do so =) She just loves her clothes (I promise!)...more to come soon...

Ditto!

Yes, we are soooooo very glad to have you back! So glad that your medication is working already and that you are feeling much better. Just relax and take it easy =) Looking forward to more posts! We love you!

WELCOME BACK!!!!

YEA!!!!!! VERY! VERY! VERY! HAPPY YOU ARE AT HOME AND FEELING BETTER!!!...and we are overjoyed to have our "Post Master" back!! lol...take care of yourself and Dad cause we LOVE YOU BOTH LOTS AND LOTS!!!!

Hey, I am back

Hey, got home Thursday afternoon, and Praise God, the heart tests came out good...the Dr. said that for one thing, my heart got out of rhythm, blood pressure went down low, ....also, my medication was working against me, ...needless to say, I did not know this, just that I was so tired all of the time....well, after, passing out , Monday morn.,(I had fainted a few times over my lifetime, but have never, ever had anything like this)God was with me, I know that!....He was taking care of me....so, it was a tracking down everything that caused it all during the week, and with everything else that was going on, it was a very hectic week, but hey, another "bump in the Road"....I have been reading all of yall's comments, and I AM SO GLAD, that we have this blog, ..I could never imagine in my wildest dreams that it would be so helpful to everyone, SO, please , let's keep this blog, and anytime that anyone is ill, or just wants to talk, or vent, or send pics, or whatever, it is there for all of us, and it is SO GOOD to feel this connection, almost like sitting down and having a really good visit with each other, and in times of need, what better way to connect., I LOVE YOU ALL, and felt every one of your prayers p.s. Just read what i wrote, and up above, I meant to say, that it was a matter of tracking down everything, to get to the cause of what happened, sorry, was "multitasking", trying to watch the news, and on channel 13, they are talking about the economy, something also to pray about....well, I know it seems I am rambling, but hey, I haven't got to get on the blog in a few days, so got to make up, ha...but anyway, I am feeling so much better today, not anything as tired as I have been, so the medication is working, I went back to my normal routine, the washing, cleaning house, etc, and before I would have been so very tired after all of that, and having to stop often, but today, other than normal tireness, I feel the difference, so I really think it is the medication, he put me on Cardizen, a blood pressure, and heart medication, it basically keeps the heart in rhythm....so I feel like now I have a "Happy Heart"

Still no internet...

Hi Everyone! Grandma just wanted me to let y'all know that she still doesn't have internet at the house. She will try to call everyone when she gets a chance. Talk to y'all later! =)

She's bustin' out!!!

Great news! I talked to Grandma around 1:30pm and she was getting ready to leave the hospital. Her final test results came back fine so it was just that she needed an adjustment on her medication. When I talked to her she was just waiting to speak with the doctor one more time before leaving! I'm so glad that her and Grandpa are going back to a house with electricity! It's been so great to keep in touch this way through this whole ordeal. Thanks Grandma! Talk to y'all soon =)

Woohoo!

That is great news! Any updates on the test from today?

YEA!!!!!!! :) We are SOOOO HAPPY!!!!

No Results Yet (as of 1200-central time)

Talked to grandma, she was waiting for her lunch, she said they had told her that they have to serve the prisoners down the hall first, WHATS UP WITH THAT?!.....Anyways, she said that the doctor usually reads the test around 12:00 then if the results are normal he sends the results to the nurse's station and they pass on the results to her...if the news isn't so great then the Dr comes to see her...So she said that she doesn't want to see that Dr come in her room! She will call from home if everything is OK. If I haven't heard anything by 5:00 then I'll give her another call. As Amy said their electricity is back on, water is back, just no cable or internet yet.

Getting Released!

Just heard at 1:00 that since all tests (even the stress test from this morning) came back normal without clots or blockages she gets to go home. The cardiologist agrees that all symptoms point to a low potassium level. It is such great news that it is as simple as that, no procedures or surgeries. She is dressed and waiting for the sign-offs then its back home.

POWER!

Grandpa told grandma that the power came on last night. Grandma is very excited! So maybe with power and the land-line working she can get on the internet when she gets out.

Talked to my mom at 8:00pm

Grandma got the results from her echo-cardiogram and everything looked good. They also got the results from the test this afternoon, they did not see any clots in the legs. Dr Martin, family dr, thinks that this condition is a result of a dangerously low potassium level. Which explains why her blood pressure changed after they took the iv (basically potassium) out tuesday night and regulated after replacing the iv. Dr. Martin also changed up her medication to better suit her needs.

Tomorrow they plan to take grandma back around 8:30am and perform the stress test (that was scheduled for wed morning) around 9:30 or 10. This test will show if there is a blockage and if it is clear then she should be clear to go home.

She did tell my mom that the food was "tasty".

JUST TALKED TO MOM (GRANDMA)

She finished the first part of the test and will finish the second part in the morning. She said that she should be able to go home after the test. She was straving...waiting for her supper...I told her the prisoners down the hall probably had it!! It came finaaally!! Yea!! So she at least gets another night with electricity and hopefully it will be back on at their home and the rest of the family's also.

Any News?

Has anyone heard anything? I called about 5 and no one answered...hhmmm? If anyone talks to her give us an update!

Still waiting

I talked to Grandma around 1pm and she was still waiting to do the test. She is still hoping to go home today after the test but doesn't know when they are going to get to her since there are several other patients waiting for the same test. Sounds like they have their house phone back but still no electricity or ability to use the cell phone. I'll check back later to see if anyone has any updates so let us know if you hear anything! =)

Test now back on

They changed their mind and decided to give her the test today, they don't know what time yet...you know how these hospitals are!! She said that she wants to go home after the test, I told her she needs to stay another night...everyone call her and tell her TO STAY at least one more night!

Test postponed

Grandma's stress test for this morning is postponed and they will perform it tomorrow. The dye that they used for the lung test will interact with the dye that they use in the stress test. The lung test came back great, there are no signs of clots in the lungs. The echo-cardiogram, an ultrasound of the heart, has not come back. Dr. Martin, their family dr, says that it could be a simple change in her current medicine to keep her blood pressure normal and her heart from racing. The cardiologist has not come by as of 10:00am, but unless he advises differently she will stay tonight as well b/c of the current living conditions. They still do not have power to their house, but my mom says that the crews are out in force around my parent's house.

My mom says that she seems to be doing well. But she is VERY bored! So if you get a chance give her a call and tell her what is going on around you.

Relaxing with a book

Talked with Grandma about 7pm and she was getting ready to read her book, try to relax, and get rest before her tests tomorrow. She got a full belly after waiting for food for the hospital to get organized. Grandpa and my mom took matters in to their own hands and found her food, but the hospital did deliver supper to her. They had to leave her at 6:30 to abide by the curfews.

Her test is a stress test, but without the treadmill. From the way she understands they will inject a dye into the veins and then put her heart under stress. The cardiologist (same as grandpa's) will be there the entire time. She is very reassured that she was able to use grandpa's cardiologist.

Grandpa moved his appointment to next week, so he has a busy schedule on Monday (MD Anderson check up) and Tuesday (the appt that would have been today).

ATTENTION COUSIN DEBBIE!

Mom said that our cousin Debbie and Randy sometimes look at the blog...she would like to hear from them, Mom and Dad are concerned about Irene. So PLEASE DEBBIE OR RANDY give her a call at Conroe Regional 936-539-1111 RM#122 ...hope everything is going well with your family.

I talked to Mom at around 4 o'clock and she said that she had a lung exam this afternoon and they are going to do the nuclear test in the morning. The cardiac dr came by but couldn't really tell her anything yet..if anyone hears anything post it....Mom also said for us all to continue the blog til she gets back to it!..

cRaZzzzY

Crazzzy...that is the only way to explain what is going on. Barbara said it's like they are living in another world, they were so happy to finally get phone service but other than that the ony way they know what is going on in the world is when they can get a paper... She said everyone is OK but they said that they think a tornado touched in their backyard, all the fences are gone but the house is ok. They have a generator for their refrigerator but are worried about the gas situation, there are very few stations open and those that are open have lines that are cRaZZzzY :(
Mom (grandma) was so happy when I told her that we got the news via this blog:)... (Good Job Amy) She said that is why she started it...I miss her posting's....I think we'll all be happy when things are back to normal!

Just talked to Grandma

Power of prayer

Grandma is going well this morning, my mom is with her and Grandpa should be there now. The last I heard the hospital was contacting a cardiologist and would be running more tests. As of last night the hospital was still with limited power. After the tests they will evaluate what procedures are necessary and what location would be the best to do a procedure. The power crews are out this morning and the Entergy website said it's focus is on hospitals, customers with medical needs, and government buildings. The power of prayer and God's will surpasses all natural disasters and human efforts. Continue to pray for grandma, that is what she would appreciate most as she is a firm believer in the power of prayer.

Rachel thank you for offering to run in supplies! Walmart is supposed to open this morning and my dad is going to brave the crowds, probably worse that day after thanksgiving. So I will see what he comes up with and pass on your offer.

TALKED TO GRANDMA

Just talked to Mom (Grandma) the phones are finally working at the hospital. The electricity for the hospital came back on last night so they are now able to conduct tests. She is having some tests this morning and so we all should know more once those results are in. Pray for her and Grandpa (he is suppose to go to the Dr. today, fortunately it is in or near the hospital) OK here is the hospital's info

Thank you for the update

Hey Amy, thanks for the posting; I had not heard the news. We are keeping everyone in our prayers and hoping that y'all get power back very soon. If anyone needs to stay with us in San Antonio you're more than welcome. Please let us know if y'all need anything at all...we can drive down with food, water, whatever y'all may need. Please keep us updated on Grandma and anything else going on. Has anyone heard from Aunt Barbara, Uncle Danny, and the boys? Keep us posted! Sorry for the duplicate posting but I meant to post this on the main page.

Pray for grandma

My mother called a little bit ago and said that my grandma collapsed this morning. They took her to the ER and the doctors said that they were very happy that she come in. First guesses, they think that it is a clot, but still need to run more tests. They have been under increasing stress in the days following Ike without power. Unfortunately land-line phone service is out and cell phone coverage is being limited and circuits are full with calls. As my mother was trying to explain the call dropped out and we are unable to connect. I will keep everyone posted as I hear more. But for now know that she is in the hospital and doing fine, they will be running more tests, and continue to pray for her healing, staying calm, and doctors' wisdom.

I will try to call again this evening, we have better luck connecting at night.

Watching Mr.Ike

The girls are ok, just called at 4:30 and will call again at 6:00. They are camping out in the hall, they lost their cable and don't have a battery radio so we have been keeping them updated. They still have electric but it is flickering. Keep them in your prayers. We are keeping y'all in our prayers

glued to the tv

well, this has been almost 24 hrs of on and off "glued to the tv", during the day, I was able to stay busy, washing, cleaning, checking what was going on with "Ike", mopping, cooking, checking "Ike" again, etc...but, since darkness fell, oh my, what a long night...it has been mostly "checking what is going on with "Ike"...have heard of so many tragic things happening during this storm, first Galveston, so many people that refused to leave, and finally, most of them did go to Ball High school for refuge, then all of the houses that burned to the ground, because the firemen could not get to them for all the water, these poor people have so much to go thru , when they do finally do get to go back to their homes,...it is 2:30 a. m., and no use to even think of going to bed, we are waiting for our turn to deal with "Ike"..just heard about Brehams resturant burning down in downtown, Houston, and a little girl getting burned over 50% of her body, also her Father that ran in to save her is critical, ..The little girl and her Mother were in the resturant, don't know the details, but pray for that precious child, her Father, Mother...Regina and I are keeping contact thru the instant messenging, ..the girls are riding the storm out in Houston, ..Beth and James had to be in California with her job, and went before they knew of the storm coming in, so the girls are there in Houston, so Regina is calling them every couple of hrs, and sending instant messages to me, thank God for the instant messageing ...we know that God is in control, and will take care of us, and yes, "This too shall pass"

Psalm 121:1-2

"God was in this Day"

When this day started out, I thought, "Oh, this is going to be another one of THOSE days"...our phone rang about 7:30 this morning, the mans voice on the other end said, "Are you aware of the water bubbling up in your yard"?, I thought "What is this man talking about?" then it dawned on me that he was serious, and I said, "no, and thank you for letting us know", then I walked as quickly as I could to tell Irvin(who was just shaving and dressing for the day) about the phone call, and after looking at one another, both thinking, what else has happened?...we went to see what he was talking about, when we finally got the garage door opened, and went out on the driveway, expecting to see something like a water spout, or whatever coming up in the middle of our front yard, we DID see water gushing out of the main water line, between our yard and our neighbors yard and running like a river down the street toward the corner...I just stood there looking, but Irvin had the presense of mind to go and get the phone book, and call the water dept. here, and in a matter of minutes, he calmly said,:they said they would be right out", then I called our neighbor, who , like us still didn't know any of this...Wanda (our neighbor) answered, and sounded so cheerful(this lady has muscle problems, and most of the time is in a lot of pain, and going weekly to take shots in her spine), that I hated so badly to tell her, but had to...She calmly , like Irvin, said, "oh, Ann, I am so glad you called to tell us"and that she better wake Fred(her husband)..well, by the time I hung up, the men were here with all of the trucks, etc. and people were driving by looking, the water running down the st. and making mud all along in the street in front of our house...well, right after noon, after digging a very deep hole, putting yellow tape all around the area(looks like a crime scene) I am serious, it does, they left...I asked Irvin, "are they going to just leave it like that, that is such a mess"...he calmly said"they will be back to cover it up when it has a chance to set", whatever that means..oh well,anyway...God WAS in this day...He kept everyone calm, except me...and after thinking to myself, oh thank goodness that man was kind enough to look our number up and call us to tell us .....

RE; Grandpa's Yard

These pictures do not do justice to his yard...the 2 big pots by the tree have the yellow Lantana in them, unfortunately had bloomed , then shed blooms when this was taken(wouldn't you know it)...we had grass put in the back yard....we put the red mulch in most of the flower beds....the birdbath at the front was my idea, love it, so does Nancy(the cat) she thinks it is her water bowl(silly cat)...the large pot has also bloomed, shed and beginning to bloom again..."Grandpa " has worked very hard on his yard, and it shows it, I think...

update from heart tests

The heart Dr. said there is a section there where there is a heart blockage, he said there was a chance that there is scartissue around one of the heart stints..he put him on medication to see if it would help, he said he wanted him to have the colon test and to see his leukemia Dr. and find out where the blood is going..he said he might want to go into there to see if it is the scartissue, he wants him to try this medication,to see how much it will help him.. I have to get him to slow down, which i have tried so hard to do, he says he enjoys it, but he has to bring it down a few nouches(mispelled, but you all know what I mean,...Please pray that he WILL slow down, and that the medication will help him...
